SNV hired Consiglieri to conduct action research to develop suitable PPEs that addresses key elements such as fit, ergonomics and movement, protection, and gender/ethnic needs of sanitation workers in Bangladesh. Consiglieri will use human-centered design (HCD) and user-centered design (UCD) approaches to develop PPEs tailored to sanitation workers’ unique requirements and preferences, including devising schemes or strategies that make PPE available in the market. The study team will use the concept of immersion research for the field visit to extract data from the sanitation workers to get a holistic view and perception of the workers. The R&D partner (Team Group) will support the development of PPE prototypes.
