For SNV Bangladesh, Consiglieri measured users’ Willingness to Pay (WTP) for safe emptying services and determined optimum tariff structures and desired roles/responsibilities of service providers in sustaining, operating and maintaining emptying services. SNV implemented the project titled ‘Demonstration of pro-poor market-based solutions for fecal sludge management in urban centers of Southern Bangladesh’ under the leadership of local authorities in Khulna City Corporation, Kushtia and Jhenaidah Paurashavas together with KWASA, KUET, URP discipline of Khulna University and WaterAid Bangladesh. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the willingness to pay of communities for safe emptying services, delineate options for tariff structures and determine the roles/responsibilities of service providers in sustaining, operating, and maintaining the services. In this study, a mixed method, combining Choice- based Conjoint Analysis (CBC), Market Analysis and Social Research methodologies was utilized. 125 people were surveyed for this study.
