Assessing the Future Readiness and Responsiveness of Bangladesh’s Higher Education System project is a national-scale study conducted across all administrative divisions in Bangladesh. It evaluates how public tertiary education prepares graduates for current and future labor market demands. The study covers 188 Primary Sampling Units, including 180 National University-affiliated colleges and 8 public universities across 20 selected districts. To reach specific groups like migrant workers and remote stakeholders, the team also integrates telephonic surveys and interviews. The study uses a mixed-methods approach, combining ODK-based KoBo-toolbox quantitative surveys of 5,640 students and graduates with extensive qualitative data. This qualitative work includes 166 Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) conducted with employers, academicians, and regulatory bodies such as NSDA and BTEB. 28 Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and 4 Small Group Discussions (SGDs) conducted with students and recent employees. The research maintains a strong gender and inclusion focus by targeting an equal distribution of male and female students and analyzing barriers for marginalized groups. Data analysis is synchronized using SPSS for quantitative statistics and NVivo for qualitative coding. This framework provides precise recommendations for curriculum updates and career services to help bridge the graduate unemployment gap.
