Project Description
Consultancy Service for Man Engagement Strategy of Nari Shakti, Samaz Shakti (NSSS) Project
This assignment aimed to develop the Man Engagement Strategy, a practical roadmap for engaging men and boys as constructive allies in advancing gender equality and supporting women beneficiaries of the Nari Shakti, Samaj Shakti (NSSS) Project in Cox’s Bazar’s host communities and Rohingya camps. The study examined household, community, market, and DRR dynamics to understand how men influence women’s mobility, safety, decision-making, and participation. Using the AIM behavior change model, the Gender Transformative Change lens, and global male engagement frameworks, the assignment generated actionable pathways for shifting harmful norms and strengthening male allyship. The qualitative approach included 16 KIIs with community leaders, Majhi/Sub-Majhi, CiC officials, WDMC/SDMC members, market actors, LSPs, youth, and Women Change Champions; 6 FGDs with men, women, and youth; and field observations across targeted host unions and Rohingya camps. A detailed document review complemented the field insights to ensure that recommendations were culturally grounded, feasible, and aligned with Helvetas’ programme objectives.
