Project Description

End-of-Phase Evaluation (EoPE) Study of ‘Making Markets Working for Last Mile (M4L), Jamalpur

The Making Markets Work for the Last Mile (M4L) project in rural Bangladesh aimed to improve economic inclusion and well-being for under-served smallholder farmers in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila. The M4L project focuses on improving value chain development, ensuring quality inputs and services, and facilitating collective purchase and sales with local and external market actors to strengthen communities’ capacity to better utilize natural resources and be more resilient to disaster and climate change. Consiglieri conducted end-of-phase evaluation and assessed the project’s goals and outcomes, providing insights for enhancing program effectiveness and guiding expansion into new regions. The study used a mixed-method approach, including surveys, focus group discussions, small group discussions, key informant interviews, case studies, and in-depth interviews, to provide a comprehensive understanding of the outcomes. Consiglieri conducted interviews and 249 surveys with different stakeholders in the treatment and control areas to evaluate the project impact.
