Project Description
Market Assessment of Astha
The Market Assessment of Healthcare Entrepreneurship in Rural Bangladesh is a short-term mixed-method study under the Swisscontact ASTHA programme that examines healthcare enterprises in rural and peri-urban areas. The study focuses on small and medium providers, including pharmacies, diagnostic centers, clinics, and general practitioner chambers, across selected growth centers in the Chattogram, Dhaka–Mymensingh, Sylhet, Rajshahi–Rangpur, Barisal, and Khulna regions. It applies a Market Systems Development approach and relies mainly on qualitative methods, including 28 Key Informant Interviews and 12 Focus Group Discussions with service seekers. Desk review and rapid facility observations support the assessment, while Human-Centered Design tools (Money game), including conjoint and willingness-to-pay exercises, are integrated. Gender, equity, social inclusion, and LNOB considerations are embedded throughout the study design
