The Market Study for the USDA McGovern-Dole School Feeding Project assessed the economic impact of locally and regionally sourced bananas, UHT milk, and eggs and evaluated whether markets in Madhabpur, Habiganj have the capacity to meet demand for 149 schools serving 32,000 students. Following a desk review for market mapping and mixed-method approach, the study combined quantitative surveys with 300 market traders: wholesalers and retailers with qualitative insights from 6 FGDs and 20 KIIs. Data was collected through ODK-based, face-to-face surveys and analyzed descriptively to assess sourcing levels, key market actors, and market capacity, economic impact, the procurement strategy of commodities and articulate recommendations.
